What happens when men finally talk?

Our Community Manager Jim Heidema joined MensGroup facilitator Bill Simpson on the Men on the Path to Love podcast to talk about what actually happens inside MensGroup and how it helps to transform lives. They cover what makes the MensGroup platform different from other offerings out there, and what changes when men stop trying to handle everything alone.

Don't Miss our content:

What an online men’s support group actually is.

MensGroup is a peer support community for men. We run live groups on topics like divorce, fatherhood, addiction, confidence, and purpose, plus general groups for whatever’s on your mind. Between sessions, the forums and direct messages keep the conversation going. It isn’t therapy, and nobody tells you what to do. You sit with men who’ve been where you are and hear how they got through it.

How the change happens.

Most men don’t transform overnight. Instead, it starts small. You show up, maybe with your camera off, and just listen. You hear a guy describe exactly what you’ve been dealing with, and something loosens. Then, a few weeks later you share something you’ve never said out loud. Over time, you realize you’re not the only one, and that you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself.

Real stories from men who’ve lived it.

In the episode, Bill talks about going through divorce and how reaching out, instead of handling it alone, is what finally changed things for him. That’s the heart of a good online men’s support group… lived experience, shared honestly, by men who understand. He indicates he also came to MensGroup looking for support in times of crisis, and is now able to offer the same support to others going through separation and divorce.

What’s said here stays here.

We never record sessions, and what men share in the group stays in the group. As a result, men feel safe enough to open up. You can read more about MensGroup and how we run our groups. Our Community Guidelines inside the platform lay out the various aspects of confidentiality and member expectations that help make MG a positive and supportive experience.

Led by men who care.

Trained MensGroup facilitators like Bill guide every group, so they know how to get men talking and keep the space safe. Some of our facilitators have been with us since the inception of MG and now support the training and mentorship of new facilitators. We are proud of the group of men who lead our groups and connect with each other to make MensGroup what it is today.

Find your group.

If you’ve been trying to handle everything on your own, you don’t have to anymore. Joining an online men’s support group can be the first step. There are many topics to choose from and a wide variety of facilitators. Bill is one of the seasoned facilitators in our Infidelity, Divorce & Relationships space. He runs a group on Saturday mornings called “Finding Love After Divorce or Breakup” that is available for all MG members on the platform.

Browse our groups and join the community whenever you’re ready.
