“Ideologies are fragmented religions essentially they used the same symbolic understructure but they only tell part of the story.”
Dr Peterson talks about the need for individuals to focus more on taking personal responsibility to avoid being sucked into an ideology.
“I’ve been trying to agitate for the adoption of that personal responsibility as an alternative to political ideology.”
Taking personal responsibility is the only sure way to live an authentic life where you can get your life together, speak your mind freely, and have a vision without the influence of the oversimplification of ideologies.
“The well-developed individual is the antidote to the tyranny of society and biology.”
Jordan feels that most of the issues plaguing the West stem from a lack of individuality and buying more into ideologies as facts. He thinks that this can be attributed to the fact that most people would rather follow a mass ideology than have to look within and bear the responsibility of developing themselves.

“And so, if we abandon that pathway of divine individuality and revert to ideological identification of race or sex we’re going to tear each other apart. And, I think part of the reason we’re motivated to do that is because, many people don’t want to bear the responsibility of developing themselves as individuals. So, they’ll shuffle off the responsibility.”
Developing yourself as an individual will mean seeing the rot in society and calling it out. It will mean fighting injustices because they are injustices and not because they don’t favor people you look up to.
